Pumpkin Park at Gertrudenhof - Autumn Walk Like in Stars Hollow
On our roadtrip towards Southern England, we made a stop at Gertrudenhof in Hürth near Cologne. The Erlebnishof Gertrudenhof is one of the most beautiful pumpkin farms in Germany.
Due to our long journey, we already knew beforehand, that we would arrive in the afternoon. Gertrudenhof has a special “Late Ticket” for this, which gives you discounted admission from 4:30 PM onwards. Since we were frequently stuck in traffic, we unfortunately arrived extremely late, so we could only enjoy a 20-30 minute stay. Nevertheless, it was enough to get an impression of the farm and the autumn feeling.
You feel like you’re in the small town Stars Hollow from the series “Gilmore Girls*”. Everywhere you look, you see a variety of different pumpkins. Everything is decorated for autumn, for example with pampas grass and large decorative mushrooms. We got a cozy feeling and would definitely have liked to stay longer.
Delicious Treats and Shopping
Distributed throughout the pumpkin park, there are various stands. There you can buy wonderful treats like waffles, crepes or, for example, a pumpkin spice latte. Of course, you also have a large selection of food and decorations that you can take home with you. Whether it’s pumpkin syrup, apple secco, or strawberry candies.
The Famous Pumpkin Pyramid
The highlight is of course the large pumpkin pyramid - the photo spot par excellence! Everyone simply takes a photo here, so you should plan some time here to get a photo without other people in it.
Petting Zoo with Highland Cows
A large petting zoo is also available, which you can walk around while enjoying a delicious drink. In between, there are always seating areas to take a breath, rest and observe. In various enclosures, you’ll meet goats, chickens, horses and, to our surprise, the beautiful Highland Cows.
Children (and the young at heart) have the opportunity to feed the animals. Gertrudenhof offers the appropriate feed on-site.
Perfect for Families
Families with children won’t get bored here either. There are plenty of opportunities for children to let off steam. Whether it’s on the large playground, the giant trampoline, or the XXL bounce castle. The adventure farm Gertrudenhof is perfect for a half-day or full-day trip. We certainly saw many happy children.
Visitor Information
Between September and November you can visit the beautiful farm. Admission is charged. We recommend booking tickets online in advance if possible.
- Opening Hours Note
- You should be there by 5:00 PM at the latest! The farm doesn’t close until 7:00 PM, but from 6:40 PM onwards, visitors are asked to head to the checkout or leave the premises - even if you’re not buying anything.
