Magical Sea of Lights: Lumagica in Magdeburg
The Lumagica in Elbauenpark Magdeburg transported us into the magical world of “Around the World in 80 Days”. The light installations were undoubtedly eye-catching and provided an impressive backdrop for an evening stroll. The story, told through two characters, atmospherically introduced each new world travel station and provided a thoughtful common thread throughout the entire park.
Although we were impressed by the staging, there were also some aspects that somewhat dampened our enjoyment. The experience was characterized by the masses of visitors who filled the park. To take photos in peace, patience was often required and long waiting times were unavoidable. This extended the originally short tour to about three hours.
The on-site catering also had its pitfalls. The few stands that accepted card payments limited the selection of food and drinks, which proved impractical. However, we found a culinary gem: the pulled pork burger. It was so delicious that we promptly treated ourselves to a second one.
On the other hand, we found the drinks overpriced. A tip: bring a thermos flask with tea or mulled wine from home to save on the warm drinks.
The entrance price is quite high, but despite the high costs and the crowds, we agreed: we would love to come back. The atmosphere, the creative light installations and good entertainment outweighed the negative aspects. This year’s world premiere with new installations and a special laser water show at Angersee is definitely worth a visit.

A visit to Lumagica in Magdeburg is a magical experience with impressive light displays and a beautiful story. However, visitors should prepare for large crowds and waiting times. It’s worth bringing some time and possibly your own drinks. Those who can overlook the mentioned shortcomings will be rewarded with an enchanting evening.
