Grilled Salmon on Orange - Perfect for Social Evenings
Marinated, extra-tender grilled salmon fillet. Perfect for relaxed evenings, whether on the road or at home.
Ingredients
- 3 oranges
- 2 tablespoons oil (for the grill grate)
- 4 tablespoons soy sauce
- 4 teaspoons hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon runny honey
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1.5 kg salmon fillet (whole piece, skin on)
Instructions
- Wash the oranges and slice them.
- Brush the grill grate with oil. Preheat the grill.
- For the marinade, mix all ingredients until well combined. The marinade should be fairly thick. If it’s too thin, add a bit more hoisin sauce or honey.
- Arrange the orange slices on the grill. Place the salmon on top, skin side down. Brush with the marinade and close the lid.
- Cook over medium heat for about 30 minutes (for a 1.5 kg piece). When white albumin beads appear on top of the salmon, it’s likely done. Taste a small piece from the edge to confirm.
- To hold, keep the salmon warm with the lid closed and the heat at its lowest setting, or turn off the grill completely.
Tips
- Make sure your grill has a lid; this is important for cooking the salmon properly.
- The orange slices give the salmon a subtle flavour and help prevent sticking.
- This dish is perfect for summer barbecue evenings (even without a caravan).
