Grilled Salmon on Orange - Perfect for social evenings

Prep: 10 minutes Cook: 30 minutes Total: 40 minutes Serves: 6

Marinated, very tender salmon fillet from the grill. Perfect for social evenings out and at home.

Ingredients

  • 3 oranges
  • 2 tablespoons oil (for the grill grate)
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 teaspoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon liquid honey
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1.5 kg salmon (whole piece, with skin)

Instructions

  1. Wash the oranges and slice them.
  2. Brush the grill grate with oil. Preheat the grill.
  3. For the marinade, mix all ingredients until well combined. It should be a rather thick marinade. If it’s too liquid, simply add a bit more hoisin sauce or honey.
  4. Distribute the orange slices on the grill. Place the salmon on top with the skin side down. Brush with the marinade and close the lid.
  5. Cook at medium heat for about 30 minutes (for 1.5kg salmon). When white liquid appears on top of the salmon, it should be done. Simply taste a small piece from the edge to check.
  6. Afterward, keep the salmon warm with the lid closed and the heat at its lowest setting, or turn off the grill completely.

Tips

  • Make sure your grill has a lid, as this is important for cooking the salmon properly.
  • The orange slices give the salmon a subtle flavor and prevent it from sticking to the grill.
  • This dish is perfect for summer barbecue evenings (even without caravan).
